Pregnancy is not always easy for mums, though, with fatigue, morning sickness, cramps and a number of other pregnancy symptoms to deal with over the coming months. But it’s all worth it when you hold your precious baby in your arms.

Our full-care obstetric service for privately insured patients covers:
Birth is a wondrous moment. Your little one is finally here!
We want you to be properly prepared for birth so that you know what to expect. And we want you to have choice over how your baby’s birth happens. If you’d like a vaginal birth, we’ll support you in that as far as possible. If you’d prefer an elective caesarean, we’ll support you in that choice too.
Childbirth preparation classes help you and your partner understand the birth process and work out what’s important to you.
Classes cover topics such as:
It is important to recognize the signs of labour so that you will know when you are experiencing it for real.
If this is your first baby, you will most likely experience lightening (the descent of the baby’s head into your pelvis) sooner, than women who have already had other children.
Typically, the signs of labour include uterine contractions, tightening of your stomach, and cramps in your lower back. About two thirds of women experience these tightenings before their waters break. About one third will notice fluid leaking out first.
If you are unsure you can either contact Dr. Ganu or contact Flinders Private Hospital Maternity ward on 8275 3482.
After delivery your baby is examined by a paediatrician who will be there at the birth. You can choose your paediatrician. If one has not already been arranged the hospital will contact a paediatrician on call at the time to be present.
Settling into life at home with a newborn is both a delight and a challenge.
Full Circle provides postnatal care to all our obstetric patients. If you have any concerns during the first 6 weeks, we’re here for you.
We provide home visits during your first 6 weeks to help you adjust to motherhood. This service is bulk billed to Medicare therefore there are NO out of pocket costs.
